Search Engine Registration -
The online feud
Are you supposed to register
your search engine with all
the major search engines, or
just have links to major
sites and have the search
engines find your site
organically? This
controversy has been gaining
momentum as search engine
registration software
increases in quantity.
According to google in their
webmasters page they state
programs like web position
gold place a negative impact
on your sites SEO. But on
the flip side software like
this does work. So what do
you believe? Is google
threatened by these software
companies?
I will do my best to answer
all of the misconceptions
people are having about
registering their sites.
First off when dealing with
the major search engines and
directories it is ok to
register your new sites
domain. But it is highly
recommended to do this by
hand inserting your domain.
If you have software that
can submit your site I would
highly suggest that you only
use it for the search
engines in the software's
list that are not
mainstream. This way you can
follow the major search
engines requests and still
allow the smaller search
engines and directories to
know that your site exist.
When Google makes a bold
statement about a software
they usually can or will
back up every word that they
say. This means for you, if
you are using software that
submits on a regular basis
also known as "search engine
spam" the major search
engines will let you slide
for a while but they have
been known for blacklisting
these types of sites.
Search engine submitting
software is tricky, you need
to be very cautious when
using or you could be
hurting the longevity of
your website rather than
helping it.
Now it has been a recent
controversy regarding
whether or not you should
even submit your site to any
search engines or just allow
the engines to find you
organically through crawling
other sites that are
currently ranked and then
once they find your site
supposedly it will improve
your rankings faster. So
what is the truth? The truth
is only the search engines
know for certain as they
make the rules and what is
good today may be considered
bad tomorrow. However I have
tried both of these methods
on a large number of sites
and without doubt the
websites that were found
organically did in-fact get
a quicker ranking and a much
faster turn around for high
search engine results with
the keywords that I had
chosen.
I suggest in the initial 4-6
months of your sites new
birth you should find people
to trade links with or
purchase inbound links to
your website. This will help
your ranking, but the catch
to all this is when you
choose to take away the
inbound paid links it can
take your ranking right back
down. But at least this
gives you time to find
permanent links on high
ranking sites.
So what is the final
verdict? I would have to say
yes search engine
registration is good if done
in the right way, and also
no search engine submitting
can be eliminated
all-together just by simply
finding sites to link to
your site. It all depends on
your specific situation. |
