Online Security
Online security is no joke,
this is keeping your
personal computer out of the
reach of hackers, and
information tracking
websites that may only want
to know what your username
and passwords for your bank
accounts.
The best thing to do is find
a good spyware removal
software. No I can not
recommend any one software
since I personally am not
completely satisfied with
even one, yet. Maybe I will
have a group of software
engineers make one just to
my specifications. But
anyhow what I do is have a
second spyware detector
software that acts as a
backup for what the 1st one
missed.
Secondly, get off the
internet now if you are not
using a firewall. Don't
trust the Microsoft built in
firewall, it is still to
vulnerable and has to many
loop holes.
I suggest a name brand
firewall like "Zone Alarm"
(free edition is fine), or
Norton Firewall, or even
McCafee Firewall.
Ok if you have a spyware
software (maybe 2), and a
firewall you have a great
jump on most of the internet
users. So what's next? Well
a good pop-up blocker is a
great next step, you may
even be satisfied with the
free windows pop-up blocker.
But let's take a second to
explain pop-up blockers.
If you have a program
downloaded into your
computer that generates pop-unders,
or pop-ups then any pop-up
blocker will not truly help
you. Pop-up blockers just
prevent new windows from
opening without your
command. They do not
eliminate the program or
website that is generating
the pop-ups. So once again
get a good spyware detector.
Lastly a great tool for any
windows owner is a registry
checker. This will check you
registry with the registry
entries given originally by
Microsoft and then it will
change any windows registry
files back to its original
form if they had been
altered. They do much more
but I am not knowledgeable
enough to keep talking about
it.
