Link popularity is arguably
the biggest and most
powerful tactic any
webmaster can have completed
for his website. The
Internet is obviously a very
large network of websites.
And if you think of the
internet this way you will
realize that the more access
points you allow for one
website its value increases
as well as the traffic it
receives.
For a minute forget that
search engines even exist.
Ok that was easy enough, now
without search engines how
are people going to find
your website? You need links
on other peoples websites,
in website directories, you
need banner ads, or text
links all over the place or
you will never see one
person at your website.
Ok, now unfortunately most
people believe that
submitting their website to
a search engine is enough to
get you ranked, well it
isn't. Search engines
primarily reference what
they can find organically
and then as a backup they
also use the registration
form.
